New PhD program for young Azerbaijani lawyers at the MLU

April 2020 marks a new milestone in the cooperation of MLU Law School and ADA University in Baku, Azerbaijan. Both Universities have agreed upon and signed a contract determining the framework of a joint PhD program for young Azerbaijani lawyers, which has been in the works since 2019.
The program’s first round will start in July 2020 and will enable six young Azerbaijani lawyers to be educated at a doctoral level over the course of four and a half years at both MLU and ADA University, awarding them with a doctoral title from MLU upon successful completion of their thesis.
Additionally, the participants will have the opportunity to gain extensive knowledge in general areas of German Law as well as the very original German legal methodology. They will also be able to improve their didactic skills through several teaching visits to ADA University over the course of the program. To ensure the success of each PhD-thesis, all participants will be supervised by an MLU professor as well as an Azerbaijani professor or experienced practitioner, thanks to the close cooperation of both faculties.
