In the summer semester 2023, Prof. Dr. Michael Germann and Prof. Dr. Dirk Hanschel offer a joint seminar on "Sovereignty". Law students of all semesters are welcome.
The preliminary meeting for the seminar will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. in the Public Law Lecturers' Library (Juridicum, 1st floor).

100 years of the International Labor Organization

This year, Prof. Dr. Dirk Hanschel (Chair of German, European and International Public Law), Prof. Dr. Katja Nebe (Chair of Civil Law, Labor Law, Social Security Law) and Prof. Dr. Daniel Ulber (Chair of Civil Law, Corporate Law and Labor Law) are dedicating a two-day conference to the founding anniversary of the International Labor Organization.
Under the title:
"100 Years ILO - Globalization and Decent Work".
international experts on international labor law would like to talk to a broad audience about the past, present and future of this unique international organization and discuss its contribution to shaping the world of work in a humane way today and tomorrow.
The event is supported by the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB).
Registration is requested by September 1, 2019. Further information on the event, as well as the program can be found on the homepage.
Time: Thursday, September 26 - Friday, September 27, 2019.

Seminar Announcement Winter Semester 2018/2019
"70 Years Universal Declaration of Human Rights"
In the upcoming winter semester 2018/19, I will offer a seminar on "70 Years of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights" (UDHR). The anniversary of the adoption of this momentous document by the UN General Assembly, which is coming up on December 10, provides an opportunity to look back, take stock, and look forward to the development of international human rights protection in a variety of ways.
The seminar performance consists of a seminar paper, a presentation and participation in the discussion. If passed, a certificate of achievement can be issued:
- for the intermediate examination according to ZwPrO (Grundlagenfach),
- for a seminar in the key area"International, Transnational and European Law" or, if applicable, in another key area.
The seminar will take place as a block seminar from January 18 - 19, 2019 at the Leucorea Foundation in Wittenberg.
Interested students are invited to the preliminary meeting on Monday, July 2, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. in the Lecturer Library of Public Law (BÖR), (Juridicum, 1st floor).

"Current Opportunities and Challenges in International Environmental Law".
In the upcoming winter semester 2017/2018, I am organizing a seminar on the topic "Current opportunities and challenges of international environmental law".
In addition to attending the seminar sessions, the seminar performance consists of a written seminar presentation and an oral presentation for discussion.
A certificate of achievement will be issued by arrangement:
- for the intermediate examination according to ZwPO (basic subject),
- for a seminar in the specialization area "International, Transnational and European Law" or, if applicable, in another specialization area.
The seminar will take place as a block seminar from January 19 - 21, 2018 at the Leucorea Foundation in Wittenberg.
The preliminary discussion will take place on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 3 p.m. in the Public Law Lecturers' Library (Juridicum).

Success of the Halle Team at the Human Rights Moot Court in Strasbourg

Position as a graduate assistant at the chair to be filled at short notice!
In the period from February 1, 2016 to September 30, 2016, the Chair of German, European and International Public Law is seeking to fill a temporary position as a graduate assistant for up to 60 hours per month to support teaching.
The vacancy is aimed at above-average graduates with a first law degree and a particular interest in the field of public law, including international and European law. The tasks can be performed flexibly in terms of time, possibly in combination with other activities.

In the coming winter semester, I am organizing a seminar on the topic of "The struggle for natural resources - current conflict situations and possible solutions through international law" The seminar performance consists of participation in the seminar sessions and a written and oral seminar presentation for discussion. After consultation, a certificate of achievement for the intermediate examination according to ZwPO or a seminar certificate in the specialization area "International, Transnational and European Law" or, after consultation, for another specialization area will be issued.
The seminar will take place as a block seminar from 22-24.01.2016 at the Leucorea Foundation in Wittenberg.
The preliminary discussion will take place on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in Seminar Room I (Juridicum).
